Definition
An EL poster is an electroluminescent panel printed with your artwork so the graphic itself emits light. A phosphor layer sits between printed electrodes; a small inverter converts 12V DC or battery power into high-frequency AC, which makes the phosphor glow evenly across the whole surface. Because the light source is a flat sheet rather than a row of LEDs, the panel is only 0.15-0.3 mm thick, stays cool to the touch, and can be cut to a shape.

Why buyers choose EL
Six properties that decide whether a display gets installed, and stays installed.
0.15-0.3 mm panel. Fits curved doors, shallow frames and wearable items where a light box cannot go.
A flat light sheet instead of LED rows, so your artwork reads the same at the edge as at the centre.
Roughly 0.5-2 W per 100 cm2. Battery operation becomes practical for shelf and event pieces.
2-8 lit zones firing in sequence. Motion that pulls the eye without a screen or media player.
Bottles, logos, letters. The lit area becomes the brand shape instead of a rectangle.
Keep the panel and driver, change the print. Repeat campaigns cost less than the first build.
Applications
EL is a low-brightness, flat light source. It wins where the room is dim, the surface is thin, or the message has to move — and it loses where direct sun hits the surface all day.
Bars and restaurants. Menu boards and bottle promotion that read in low light without glare on the table.
Retail shelves. Fridge doors, end caps and shelf talkers where a backlit box would be too deep or too hot.
Events and exhibitions. Lightweight panels that roll or pack flat, install with tape, and survive multi-day runs.
Promotional gifts. T-shirts, caps, wristbands and badges that stay lit through an evening and get photographed.

Process
Six steps from your brief to a sealed carton. Each step has a checkpoint where you approve or we correct.
Size, quantity, where it goes. A photo with a tape measure is enough to start.
We check stroke weight, contrast and lit-zone routing, and send a written list of anything that will not print or light properly.
You see the artwork lit and unlit on the real size before any material is cut.
A powered unit with your artwork, produced within 7 days of mockup approval.
Mass production runs 7-10 days; bulk volumes run 15-20 days. Dates confirmed in writing.
Each panel is powered and photographed before the carton is sealed. Export packing, express, air or sea.
Client structure
Work from beverage, cosmetics, telecom and retail clients across Europe, the Middle East and the Americas has taught us the artwork and compliance quirks of each market. Most of what we produce is never shown publicly, so we describe the client structure rather than naming brands.
Campaign-specific panels for launches, seasonal pushes and in-store theatre. Usually 50-500 units, often animated.
Multi-market rollouts where the same build ships to several countries with different plug types and packaging.
Repeat orders across a catalogue, where matching the previous run matters as much as the price.
More than 100 brands supplied since we started producing EL panels. References available under NDA on request.
Technical data
The numbers we quote to buyers, including the ones that make EL the wrong choice for some sites.
| Item | Range | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Panel thickness | 0.15-0.3 mm | Determines mounting depth and flexibility |
| Brightness | 140 nits at start | Measured at the face |
| Brightness decline | After 8,000-12,000 hours of use, brightness drops gradually | Gradual decline, not a sudden failure; the panel keeps working |
| Drive voltage | AC 100-200V from a DC inverter | Inverter input DC 3V / 5V / 12V or mains |
| Drive frequency | 400-2000 Hz | Higher frequency = brighter and shorter life |
| Power draw | Roughly 0.5-2 W per 100 cm2 | Below LED for the same lit area |
| Maximum single panel | About 80 x 150 cm | Larger surfaces are tiled with colour matching |
| Heat | Negligible; cool to the touch | Suitable for enclosed frames and wearable items |
| Sample lead time | Within 7 days of mockup approval | Starts after you approve the mockup |
| Mass production | 7-10 days; bulk 15-20 days | Confirmed in writing with the quotation |
| Certificates | CE, FCC, RoHS | Numbers and model list on request |
Options
Power. Battery box (AA/AAA), USB 5V, 12V adapter, or AC plug-in inverter. Chosen by site access, not by cost.
Finish. Bare laminated panel, panel in an aluminium frame, or panel behind acrylic in a light box.
Animation. Static, 2-8 zone sequence, or sound-activated. Zone count drives both artwork prep and unit cost.
Shape. Rectangle or die-cut to your outline. Tooling is quoted once and kept on file for reorders.
Mounting. Tape, standoffs, hanging kit, magnet, or frame. Tell us the surface and we specify the fixing.
Production flow
1. Incoming material inspection — phosphor sheet, ink and film checked before a run starts.
2. Screen printing — the light layer and colour layer registered to your artwork.
3. Electrode routing — conductive traces laid outside the visible lit area.
4. Lamination — protective film and edge sealing, the step that decides moisture resistance.
5. Wiring and driver fit — inverter matched to panel area and tested on the bench.
6. Ageing and burn-in — powered for a set period to catch early failures before packing.
7. Illuminated QC — every panel photographed lit; you can approve or reject on that evidence.
8. Export packing — flat or rolled by model, protective layers, desiccant, carton labels.
Compliance
CE, FCC and RoHS documentation is held for the models that carry it. Ask us for the certificate numbers and the exact model list — we would rather send you the paperwork than have you assume coverage we do not have.

Factory
Printing, lamination, wiring and QC sit under one roof in Lishui, Nanhai, Foshan. That is why a spec change reaches the line the same day instead of waiting for a trading company to forward it.
Screen printing means we control ink laydown and registration, which is where colour consistency between batches is won or lost.
The edge seal decides whether a panel survives a humid bar for three years or delaminates in one summer.
Panels run before they ship, so early inverter failures are caught here rather than at your installation.
Low MOQ accepted · mixed sizes within one run · QC photos before cartons are sealed · factory visits welcome.
Differentiation
Panels are printed, laminated and wired here. No trading layer between you and the line.
We have produced EL displays for beverage, FMCG and event clients since the early 2000s.
One named contact from quote to shipping, replying within 1 hour, 24×7, always in writing.
Most custom builds start from 5 pcs, so you can test a store or an event before a full run.
Work across Europe, the Middle East and the Americas taught us each market’s artwork and compliance quirks.
Samples in 7 days, production 7-10 days, bulk 15-20 days — confirmed in writing before you pay.

FAQ
Most custom EL builds start from 5 pcs, and mixed sizes are accepted within one run when the material is the same.
Samples are produced within 7 days of mockup approval. Mass production then runs 7-10 days, and bulk orders 15-20 days.
A new panel starts at 140 nits. After 8,000-12,000 hours of use it settles toward 130, then 120, easing to roughly 80 nits over its service life. The decline is gradual, not a sudden failure.
With lamination and sealed edges, yes for sheltered or night-time use. In direct sun EL looks dimmer than LED, and we will say so rather than take the order.
CE, FCC and RoHS for the models that carry them. Ask for the certificate numbers and the model list.
Yes. Every panel is powered and photographed lit before the carton is sealed, and you can approve or reject on that evidence.
Send the size, quantity and destination country. Artwork welcome but not required at this stage.
